For more than 40 years Martin
Carthy has been one of folk music's
greatest innovators, one of its best
loved, most enthusiastic and, at times,
most quietly controversial of figures.
His skill, stage presence and natural
charm have won him many admirers,
not only from within the folk scene,
but also far beyond it. Trailblazing
musical partnerships with, amongst
others, Steeleye Span, Dave
Swarbrick and his award-winning
wife (Norma Waterson) and daughter
Eliza Carthy.

Martin Carthy was awarded the MBE for services to English Music and won
Singer of the Year and Best Traditional Track at the BBC Radio 2 Awards 2005.

SINGERS & MUSICIANS NIGHT

Singers' Nights are a popular part of the club's program with all types of acoustic folk music
and song performed. This is the chance for SOLO or GROUPS of singer musicians to
come and showcase their talent.

MICK RYAN & PETE HARRIS

Mick Ryan is known as a fine singer of traditional and original material. Pete is
celebrated in both folk and blues circles, playing guitar, bouzouki, mandolin,
mandola, bass guitar and whistle. They have a number of CDs to their names.

Mick and Pete combine traditional, original, comic and blues material with solo,
unison and harmony singing that is by turns powerful sensitive and arresting

Mick Ryan is known on the folk scene as a fine singer of traditional and original material.
Folk Roots described him as "definitely the most underrated singer in the country". Pete
Harris (guitar, bouzouki, mandolin, mandola, bass guitar, whistle) has worked with a
number of successful bands including The New St. George and Bursledon Village Band and
is also a fine solo performer.
